Winemaker

Our first vintages (2007 Sangiovese and 2007 Cabernet) are crafted by winemaker, Steve Burch.

Steve was born and raised in Ohio and moved to California in 1994 to study winemaking at the world renowned Department of Viticulture and Enology at the University of California at Davis. While a student, Steve learned all he could about the business of wine, working at vineyards, wineries and wine retail stores. After graduation in 1998, Steve served as acting Research Winemaker at Mondavi/Woodbridge, making wine in small lots from research blocks to find ways to increase wine quality. Steve was then recruited to a position at Flora Springs Winery in the Napa Valley as Assistant Winemaker. In 2002, Steve moved to the Sierra Foothills to start his own winery, Burch Hall Winery which he continues to oversee.
